Background
Founded by Dr Alfred Wiener in 1933, The Wiener Holocaust Library is one of the world’s leading and most extensive archives on the Holocaust and Nazi era. We are dedicated to supporting research, learning, teaching and advocacy about the Holocaust and genocide, their causes and consequences.
Our Building
Since 2011, The Wiener Holocaust Library has been located at 29 Russell Square in Central London. The building forms part of an impressive terrace built c. 1804 which has been Grade II listed since 1969.
Collection
Our vision is of a continuously developing library, archive and information service for the UK and for the international community, dedicated to supporting research, learning, teaching and advocacy about the Holocaust and genocide, their causes and consequences.
We have been collecting material related to the Holocaust and other genocides since 1933. Our holdings contain approximately 70,000 books and pamphlets, 2,000 physical document collections, 45,000 photographs and 3,000 periodical titles (including 110 current subscriptions), 1 million press cuttings, as well as posters, objects, artworks, digital collections, and audiovisual materials.

Mon-Fri 10am – 5pm
Access to exhibitions, events, and reference library free to the public. Library membership scheme available to allow borrowing of books.
