JOINT CONFERENCE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE INDEPENDENT LIBRARIES ASSOCIATION OF THE UNITED KINGDOM, IRELAND AND THE CHANNEL ISLANDS AND THE MEMBERSHIP LIBRARIES GROUP OF AMERICA

We are delighted to release details of the joint conference with colleagues from the Membership Libraries Group of America from 25-27 September. The conference will take place in London and is being co-organised with The London Library.

 Topics

The conference will involve the sharing of experiences and insights amongst members of the Independent Libraries Association and the Membership Libraries Group and focus on topics that are common to us all, such as:

  • Developing, sharing and caring for our collections

  • Trends in membership

  • Raising awareness and engagement, using events, marketing and communications

  • Fundraising from individuals and giving bodies

  • Staffing and volunteering

  • Working with trustee boards to improve governance

Most sessions consist of facilitated round-table discussions with a number of presentations throughout the three days.

As well as learning from each other’s approaches to the many shared challenges we have, this is a great opportunity to build our networks with colleagues in similar institutions both in the UK and in the US.

The cost of the conference will be £20 per delegate per day. Attendees are welcome to attend all three days, or just choose those that might be of greatest interest.

The venue will be The East India Club close to The London Library on St James’s Square.

Conference delegates are invited for a drinks reception, including a tour of The London Library, following the session on Wednesday and to attend a speaker event (free of charge) – details on Eventbrite.
